About Catherine
Catherine has over twenty-five years of experience in social science research, primarily in the areas of child welfare, early childhood, education, and homelessness. Since starting her own evaluation consulting business in Seattle in 2015, Catherine has enjoyed working with a variety of clients throughout the United States. Previously, in 12 years as a researcher at Casey Family Programs, Catherine led complex studies of youth in foster care and alumni of foster care; these studies describe youth and alumni outcomes and examine how experiences in foster care can be improved to help achieve better outcomes.
Earlier in her career, Catherine managed a study examining the effectiveness of a therapeutic day school for children with severe emotional and behavioral disorders at the Children’s Health Council (Palo Alto, California) and evaluated the effectiveness of a major school reform initiative, primarily through qualitative research, at the Stanford University School of Education.
Catherine has authored and co-authored over 25 journal articles and ten book chapters, many of which are related to well-being outcomes for youth and young adults.
Catherine earned a Bachelor’s degree in Urban Studies and a Master’s degree in Education from Stanford University.
